My weekend with demons and Satan

Well, today is Saturday and what am I doing? Sitting at home feeling like crap. Just found out I have swollen and infected lymph nodes. Trust me, it is not fun. On antibiotics and pain meds. So hubby is out most of today. He’s in a curling bonspiel all weekend and won’t be home until late tonight. So that leaves me to do plenty of work on my latest demon book. This one is giving me grief. It was originally 130,000 words and needed to be cut down. Not a problem, there’s stuff I and remove that won’t disrupt the story-line. Yet still…there’s more I need to take out. I’ve found my longer works don’t do as well as some of my shorts. So now I need to cut more out of the book to bring it down to at least 70,000. Oy!

So the story is about the son of Aurora and Scott Monroe from Offer the Demon. Mick Monroe is a kick ass rock star with killer looks and knows how to use them. He sleeps with plenty of women and has been known to lose his temper now and then. Probably natural given he is the son of Satan. Well…sort of. Like every bad boy, he thinks he can have who ever he pleases whenever he pleases. So when he sets his sights on Officer Lacy Harris he’s determined to get her into bed. He is in for a big surprise because she is as headstrong as he is and puts him in his place. But when Mick meets her son, he discovers something inside of him he never knew existed.
Satan is a determined animal who has the upper hand when it comes to Mick and when Mick refuses to do as he says, Satan gets nasty. He kills Mick. Shocked? I hope so. So of course you know it will have a happy ending, but getting there is no picnic. There’s a confrontation with Satan with dire repercussions and no one in Mick’s family is safe.

So now you have an idea of what the story is like. And now I need to get back to cutting out several words. Oy!

Interview with B.J. Scott

Hello B.J. And welcome to That’s What She Said. Why don’t we begin by having you tell the readers about yourself.

C.S. Lewis first captivated B. J.’s imagination in the fourth grade, and her desire to write sprang from there. I must say it is a thrill to interview a fellow Canadian. I see you have a stunning background of relatives who have come from Scotland, Ireland and England. How much of that background do you put into your stories?I have always been fascinated with anything related to my ancestry and Scottish historicals are one of my favorite books to write. Highland Legacy actually has the town my grandmother was born in Kirkintillock in one of the chapters and make use of the Scott clan for part of it as well. Because my stories are historical, I have to rely on research to make sure the facts are as accurate as possible.

You’re a lucky woman to have your very own knight in shining armour. How much of your husband is the heroes you create. He likes to tell people that hero is based on him and that he posed for the cover, but so far has not gotten anyone to buy it lol. For me a hero is strong, compassionate, of good morals fiber, romantic, and humorous. To be honest, my husband has all these qualities and more.

You’re bio says that you worked in the nursing field. Do you ever write your profession into your stories? When I write contemporary, and there is a medical emergency, it comes in very handy. I am planning to write a romantic suspense that takes place in a hospital so will utilize my nursing experience then. Even in historicals it comes in handy, but herbal medicines and old cures are used and I must be careful not to use modern terms.

What made you want to write historical romance?I have a passion for history, especially anything Scottish or Celtic so writing a Scottish historical seemed a logical choice. My favorite books to read are in the genre as well.

Share with our readers how you did the research for your novel: Research comes from a variety of places, but for historicals it primarily comes from library and online information sites. A historical romance must have accurate information for the time period, but the historical facts cannot be more important than the romance. Romance drives the story and the historical facts, events serves to set the scene and helps to transport the reader back in time.

Do you have anything in the works right now? If so, would you mind giving us all a glimpse into your creation? Yes. I am currently working on a sequel to Highland Legacy. This was always my intention, but since the book came out in Nov 2011, I have had many requests for a sequel involving the hero's brother and the healer in Highland Legacy. I am also working on another Scottish historical, A civil war based time travel/paranormal and a historical novella. These are all at various stages, but hope to have the sequel finished and available to the public by summer of 2012.

Right now with, the incredible amount of work it takes to promote my book, trying to find time to write my next novels, working full time and running a small home based business...not to mention being a wife and mom to four dogs and a cat... Dazed and Confused would be a fitting name ;)

Hello, I'm a vampire. How may I help you?

Have you ever thought about what the world would be like if paranormal was reality? I’m talking Vampires, demons, werewolves, shapeshifter, and zombies, just to name a few. And what if these creatures lived amongst us like normal average everyday Joes and Joans. Your next door neighbour is a shifter and you invite him over for coffee all the time. You’re standing in the grocery line and the cashier is a demon. The late night security guard was a vampire. A Blood and raw meat store would be as common as a convenience store. A place where zombies could go and have all the brains they want with no consequences.

Now, of course these creatures couldn’t take whatever they want, suck blood from humans or chase their victims down on a full moon. There would be consequences. Jail for the paranormal. Naturally there would have to be more officers out on parole while there’s a full moon.

Call me weird, but I think about it all the time. There are times I’ll see a person at the mall and think just how much they look like a vampire. You know what I’m talking about. That guy with the dark hair, pale skin, dark eyes. Or the chick standing beside you in the elevator talking to her companion and you notice how pointy her teeth are. What about that guy who has so much hair on his body it’s hard to tell if there really is flesh beneath it. How about the guy in the cubical next to you. You know the one. He’s got his head down, his hair is frazzled, and he’s mumbling to himself. Zombie. Yeah, see, you know what I mean. What a different world it would be.

Now you’re probably thinking, “Wait, Shiela. If this were reality, then the vampires, werewolves and demon race would become extinct without them recruiting.” Yes, I’ve thought about that. So here is my take on it. Just like we have blood donor clinics, there could be a Volunteer Your Life program. Here a dying person could go in and surrender their humanity to a vampire, a demon or a shifter. Werewolves of course procreate so therefore their race would still carry on. But picture it. Someone has just been diagnosed with terminal cancer. But wait, their still young and have so much life left in them. Why not commit yourself to becoming a vampire, demon or shifter. Of course, the individuals would have to fill out a lengthy form, sign a consent form and so forth. And let’s say there is a law put in place where these creatures can only create a limited amount. That way we wouldn’t be overrun by vamps demons and shifters.

See, I’ve thought way too much about this. But wait, that’s not all. I actually wrote about this very thing. In my novel, Consuming the Darkness, Jacobs Cove is exactly that. A paranormal friendly city. They are governed by laws and those that break the rules do time in prison just like average humans. In Jacob’s Cove, where death is as common as apple pie, a serial murderer is a first. Detective Nathan Powers lost his partner to the aptly named Heartless Killer, and the trail of bodies leads him straight to Jacob’s Cove. However, this is no typical small town. It’s a strange world populated with bloodthirsty demons and run by a vampire. Still, the leggy blonde Sienna is a pleasant distraction. Until he discovers she’s after the same killer—and she’s not sharing.

Minds clash as the hunt intensifies, but the more they run into each other, the harder it is to stay apart. Together they discover not only clues, but a searing need that rises higher by the day.

That need may be their downfall when Nathan becomes the killer’s next target, and Sienna must risk everything to get him back.

Excerpt:

“Behind you! Get down.”
The gun came up in his hand, aimed at her head. She felt the presence of the vampire as he jumped out from behind the dumpster. As she spun around to take him down, the gun fired, hitting the vamp in the right shoulder. He jerked back, screeching like a banshee.
“What the hell are you doing?” she yelled at the man with the gun as she ran to the vamp. “Daisy, stay!” Daisy sat as she’d been instructed while Sienna knelt down beside the screaming vamp. She pressed her knee to the vamp’s bleeding shoulder to ensure that he wouldn’t move. “You are under arrest for breaking the laws of human and vampire and will be detained in the local jail while awaiting trial.”
“You’re a cop?” the guy behind her responded.
“Yeah, I’m a cop. Oh, stop your screaming already,” she yelled at the vamp, then flipped him onto his belly and pulled his arms to his back, pinning them in one hand while she searched for her handcuffs. “Damn it, why don’t I have my cuffs on me. Wanna tell me why you were about to attack me?”
“I wasn’t…honest…I was only…out for a walk. Yeah, I was walking. I’m going to sue the cops for harassment. I was minding my own. Fuck, my shoulder is killing me. Police brutality!”
“Shut the hell up. No one gives a damn.”
“Here.”
Sienna glanced up to see a set of shiny silver handcuffs dangling down before her. Glancing up, she took a moment to survey the gentleman and noticed he wasn’t bad on the eyes. His dark brown hair was messed up but somehow looked natural. And wow! The guy had a hell of a body. Broad shoulders, wide chest, and narrow waist. His face was pretty decent to look at, even with that thin line of hair over his upper lip that ran down the sides of his mouth to cover his chin. He had nice eyes, dark, round, with long lashes. “I’d prefer a regulation set rather than your bondage toys.”
“These are regulation. I’m a detective. Nathan Powers,” he introduced in a deep, throaty voice that sounded as if he’d had one too many cigarettes.
The vamp squirming beneath her, she took the cuffs. Before slapping them on the vamp’s wrists she made sure they were regulation. Flipping him onto his back, Sienna pinned him with her knee as she had before. “Don’t try anything stupid.”
“Bitch!” the vamp spat.
“What the hell’s with the yellow contacts and fake fangs?”
Sienna glanced over her shoulder as she responded to the detective. “What? You’ve never seen a vampire before?”
“A what?”
“A vampire.”
“I heard you. I thought I’d seen it all, but I guess not. Now we’ve got junkies playing vampire,” The detective chuckled with a shake of his head.
One look at the guy told her he was serious. “Oh jeez, he’s a virgin.” She rolled her eyes. “I told you to shut up.” She yanked the screaming vamp to his feet. “This is a vampire, not a fake, the real deal and if you plan on being in Jacob’s Cove for any amount of time you might want to be on the lookout for them. Some of them refuse to abide by the new laws. Isn’t that right, screamer?”
“Seriously though, he’s a vampire like the blood-sucking kind?”
“Don’t know any other kind.”
“Shouldn’t you like…you know, jam a wooden stake through his heart? I can’t believe I just said that.” He laughed boldly.
Was he for real?
She didn’t care for the sarcasm in his voice. “Neither can I. We prefer to rehabilitate them rather than turning them to dust.” Holding the vamp in one hand, she pulled her cell phone out with the other and dialed the station. “Lieutenant Storm here. I have a rogue vamp I need brought in.”
“I wasn’t doing anything, you stupid bitch.”
She clamped onto the squirming vamp a little tighter as she gave her location. She slipped her phone back into her shirt pocket when she was through and gave the vamp a hard shove against the dumpster. “Right, you were only skulking in the dark because you needed a smoke, right?”
“It’s a free world last time I looked.”
“Sure, except when you’re attempting to drink someone dry. Save it for the judge; I’m done listening.”
“You can’t prove anything. I’m innocent.”
“Do you know what I am?” she asked as she leaned in real close. “I’m a Tejakkan which means I have precog abilities. I saw you moments before you jumped out and I saw just what you’d planned to do so save your ‘I’m innocent’ act for someone who gives a damn.”
“Bitch!”
“That’s right and remember it.”

Action Heroes. Where have they gone?

Have you heard the news? Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone have undergone surgery . Not only do these two act together and share a business, but now they’re having surgery in the same hospital at the same time. Remember when these two were the top billboard action heroes?

The Terminator Arnold Schwarzenegger terrified viewers with his robotic ways and killer instinct. “I’ll Be Back!”

Stallone with his tough voice and boxing gloves taking out his opponents with gusto and a solid right cross. ADRIAN!!

Schwarzenegger, 64, explained, "After all the action, stunts & physical abuse shooting The Expendables 2 and The Last Stand, it was time for a little tune up on my shoulder. Look who was coincidentally waiting in line behind me for his shoulder surgery. Now we're ready for another round of great times and action when we shoot The Tomb."

These two are set to act together in not one, but two movies coming out in the next year. The Expendables 2 and The Tomb. Though they say that neither will be doing their own stunts I makes me wonder how the editors are going to manage deleting the walkers. **Snicker**

Its really sad to see these two action heroes growing old. And what is the worst. It makes me feel old. I was in my twenties when Rocky came out and nearly thirty when Terminator was released. How can it be true that these two great heroes are so old

What action heroes do we have these days? Hmmm…Matt Damon’s Jason Borne, Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt in Mission Impossible. Those are the ones that come to mind…well, ones that have stuck around in sequels. But what action heroes are there now for our children to remember and grow with? Robert Downey Jr. (Yummy) Sherlock Holmes for one.

They say Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow is an action hero though I’m not sure of that. Are the true action heroes gone? Is it the end of a great legend? God I hope not. Action heroes are damn sexy. Sure they get the hell beaten out of them and their faces are bloody an bruised, but still…babes. There is something about a man who can throw a punch that is a turn on. Blood and all.

What the Hell is that noise?

Today, while watching the local news, I was blown away by a story being reported. I’m not sure if anyone else has heard about this, and I’m pretty sure more than a few have, but it kinda freaks me out. People are reporting hearing a weird noise in the air not just in my tiny neck of the woods in Saskatchewan, Canada, but also in Australia, London, Chicago, to name a few. And no one seems to know what it is. Some say it sounds like a trumpet blowing, others say a fog horn, some say it sounds like some sort of scraping sound and no, these aren’t crack-pots. Sure, if you had a handful of people from one city, province or state claiming to have heard the odd sounds you could laugh it off. But world wide? No way can that be laughed off.

Now of course since it is 2012, people are saying it’s a sign of the end of the world. Others are saying its aliens. It could be both, or nothing at all. There is a hell of a solar storm happening right now. Some say it might be the storm, not sure how this works, but okay, people are entitled to their opinions. I haven’t heard the noises personally and I know if I did I would seriously shit my pants. What could it be and why are people hearing it across the world?

Most of the noises sound the same. A loud rumbling or groaning vibrating in the air. My hubby pointed out that it sounds uncannily like the noises the aliens made in the movie War of The Worlds with Tom Cruise. Anyone remember that movie? It really does sound the aliens. God help us of that’s true. Those suckers were gross and what they did to the humans was….horrifying.

Others are saying it’s a publicity stunt for a new movie or game. Seriously? That is one hell of a budget they have then to do this world wide. But okay, we'll go with it. Some movie's have done similar things as publicity.

Still...I’m baffled.

Could it be aliens trying to make contact with us?

Is this just another sign of the impending end of the world?

All I can say is I’m stumped and, yes I’m going to say it again, freaked out.

Quickies, boobs, nuts and a shedding pussy

I’m sure by now you’ve all seen those popular Vince Slap Chop and Sham Wow Commercials. But have you seen his latest. The Schticky? Not to worry, I have it below for you to watch. Now, when Vince first started doing the Slap Chop Commercials, people had a field day making fun of him. Slap My Nuts was the best. Parodies were made of him, even on SNL. He’s just a fun guy to poke fun at. I love the You Tube versions of it. Here, check it out.

A riot, right? LOL

I’ve used the Slap Chop and don’t find it useful at all. It now sits in the back of my cupboard, all alone wishing someone would slap its nuts.

I never tried the Sham Wow, but I’ve heard it’s just as useless. So It makes me wonder about the Schticky. It’s a lint roller that’s washable and reusable. Sounds good, right? And forget about paying mega bucks on those other lint rollers that you continually have to replace. Am I going to go out and buy it? Probably not. But listening to the infomercial is priceless. Maybe it’s the pervert in me, but some of this infomercial sounds kinky.

“We’re going to clean your home in a quickie” Quickie? Hmmm sounds like fun.

And look how the woman rolls that Schticky across her boob? Really, she couldn’t have run it along her skirt?

“Problem with that shedding Pussy?” Snort!! Come on, really? LMAO

“Hey Vince! Oh, you’re playing with your Schticky.” I almost peed myself when I heard this line. LOL

Where's a caveman when you need one

It's just past one in the morning and I'm sitting with my laptop on my lap writing this blog post. Why am I not sleeping you may ask? That is a damn good question. I've taken muscle relaxants and migraine meds that usually knock me out. Yet I'm sitting here wide awake. The house is quiet with is very nice. As I look around my living room I see my cat Salem sleeping on the recliner, Misty is sitting beside me and Cinder is on the back of the sofa. Then there's Castiel. He's busy wandering around the house. Maybe he has insomnia too. He's stalking the place like he's never seen it before. Oooh, what's over here. But at least he's quiet.

So where was I? Oh yes, not sleeping.

I went to bed, couldn't sleep so I tried playing Angry Birds. Damn that game is adicting. Those stupid pigs are crafty, evading my bombs and flying birds. And that music, very catchy. What i like is the sound of the birds as you fling them in the air. What a riot. Oh lord I need some sleep.

Okay, so what's a gal to do to try and get some sleep. If I were a cave woman, my man would grab me by the hair, drag me to his cave and conk me over the head with his club. Then I'd sleep. Yes, in my scenerio all he does is conk me over the head. The last thing i need now is sex. It always invigorates me, which right now, isn't such a good thing. Beside, my hubby is sound a sleep, snoring the way of a dead sleeper. Oh how I envy him.

Oh look, now Castiel has decided he wants to knock the water bowl over. Wait no, he dropped one of his furry balls into the water. Yeah, he's spilling water all over the floor. The least he could do is wash the floor for me.

Have you ever seen the shadows in your house at night. Freaky! My hanging Spider plant looks like hands reaching out to get me.

Yep, now i think I'm delerious. LOL
I should take something to help me sleep. I do have to be up in five hours. Sigh...
Okay, gonna try a sleeping pill. Hope it helps. Wish me luck.
